I watched my grandma slowly die from cancer over a span of four years. I watched her in the hospital, I watched her when she was bed ridden, I watched her when she couldn’t speak. But the worst part was watching her forget me. You spend 15 years with someone, who’s a part of your everyday life, and you don’t realize just how much your life revolves around them until they’re not there anymore. I thought I had prepared myself for my grandmas death. I told myself that she wasn’t hurting anymore, that everyone dies, and that it would be best to move on and get over it. I never allowed myself to truly grieve her. At least, not until this video. Made me realize you can miss someone, grieve someone, and still look back on them with fondness and love. That terrible things happen, and it’s ok to cry. It’s ok to hurt and to feel upset or angry. And I thank you sir for that lesson. And for letting my finally express the tears that had built up inside me the last 5 yrs.
