Dr. Howarth Bouis Director, HarvestPlus, one of the pioneers in biofortification, delivered a talk on: Improving Nutrition through Bio-fortification: A Novel Cost-effective and Sustainable Approach.

Biofortification: breeding of crops with higher levels of vitamins and minerals, is gaining momentum globally as well as in India. This is emerging as a good complementary strategy, along with dietary diversification, food fortification and micronutrient supplementation to reduce the high burden of micronutrient malnutrition.
