I feel that God's family is everyone on earth... not just limited to the church. He wants us to love everyone, even our enemies. I feel that many non-believers choose to depart from Christianity because they feel a division based on beliefs. Loving those who have different beliefs is exactly what Jesus did.
I love this message and The Purpose Driven Life book. This point, however, has stuck with me based on my relationships with non-believers.

I have attended a small group here in our country with the same teaching, I had spiritual tests that I wasn't able to pass. I turned back from God and my church, but after all that I have done, God remains patient to me. God is good all the time.

My farther in law had cancer 11 years ago. At the time he was leading a big evangelical campaign in the Netherlands. The doctors gave him weeks to live. He was prayed for by his friends and was completely healed. Now he has cancer again and will soon be in heaven. It is a very strange experience to of had years added to a persons life. A huge blessing and peace as he prepares to go. One of his friends said that some people see their cups half full and others half empty but few get to say like David that their cup overflows.
