Great to see Nissan finally including a liquid cooled BMS. A lot of people are still "emotionally scarred" by the hideousness and air cooled battery of the 1st Gen Leaf.. The ARIYA styling and performance are a huge improvement over their past efforts. is Rear view visibility adequate? looking at the sloping back roofline, it looks like it might be limited. I do like the physical buttons, though after driving the Model Y for 2 months, I am realizing you don't need so many buttons. The Renault Mégane e-tech, does seem like a more premium version of the vehicle. Great review as always.

It's a nice looking car. It's interesting to see that the charge port is on the side instead of at the front.

So, how was the steering feel/heft/feedback?

One of my pet peevs with the Leaf Derek is the thick a pillar. I find myself leaning left to see around it on a right hand turn. Is the Ariya the same or is it slightly thinner. Can't quite gauge from the video.

So what is your impression compared to a Model Y?

Great video, lovely car! Don't be fooled by the DVA based boot capacity rating, It only counts the space unter the cover, and since Nissan opted to make that cover very wide it does sit quite low. Hence the rating is only "ok". That said, the Ariya has a bigger boot footprint than the considerably longer Nissan X-Trail while having more legroom for the rear seat passengers as well. Quite and achievement. And it has a max cargo capacity of 1775 liters with seats folded down. This is benchmark among EVs of that length.
The center console did move when the car was turned on in the version I sat in on the continent. Maybe this is forbidden by law in Ireland?

Nice, but the Renault Megane E-Tech looks much nicer. Love the tech, especially a head up display.

I like this car and Nissan deserve support for their early ev position.
Will have to see exactly where the sub €50k fits and the spec it will have. It is cheaper than the ionic5 and ev6 which should earn it followers. Still a big car though.
I think it looks better in other colours.

The big problem all manufacturers have will be the Chinese. The Ora Cat beats them hands down on price and fit. And it is also a smaller car. If I can fit a bike in the back then I would be tempted by it.

Nice review and great to see it will be with us soon. We'll donw Nissan.

Awesome review and first look at this car.
I was so lucky to have a test with the Renault Mégane e-tech which is on the same platform.
I have to be honest and say that the Mégane feels more car for the money.
So smooth on the road.
And am I right when I say it has better space in the back seats than the Nissan?
And the best of all is the Google operating system that the Renault has 👌

Thanks for your work! I can not understand what is taking Nissan so long! It must have caught the Toyota, Honda, and Subaru BEV aversion disease. Seems like it could be related to a cultural phenomenon.

I think it's a very nice car. Should be interesting when you get to do a drive on real roads.

There is no competition to the Tesla Y in France. Tesla Y LFP battery rear wheel drive is Euros 48000 plus the Tesla Superchargers. Why would you buy any Hyundai, Kia, VW, Audi, Ford, Volvo, BMW etc. etc.

Pity the drive is short and restricted, can not make mind on buying or not, especially the car is not available to test drive.

Crying laughing they brought a large cross over yoke to a race track. What are they not telling us ?
This one is a long game. Where is the bogey? Roll on James & Johnathan to find it
