Depending on which version you prefer, Aphrodite is either the child of Uranus or of Zeus and Dione. And since Greek Mythology is mostly "Choose Your Own Adventure", I personally prefer her to be the daughter of Zeus and Dione. Makes her origin less... disturbing. Maybe Zeus made up the whole "born from Uranus' seed and sea foam" thing to hide his affair from Hera.

Actually the main mythology for Aphrodite was that everyone liked her too much that Zeus gave her to hepatitus as he was the only one not physically assaulting her for her affection as she was too beautiful. (I believe this may have also been to appease hera.) Unfortunately the only reason he didn't assault her was because he only cared about forging and making things.
