forget finder scopes, use a telrad sight, and newtonian reflectors allow you to see the most with the most simplicity and lowest price, get an 8 inch at least and you don't need a lot of lenses, 2 or 3 is fine, lower power allows you to see more of the sky.

I started out in the 1960's with a good quality 60mm refractor with f11 focal length. But, I've always liked Edmond Scientific Astroscan 2001. Used that when traveling on the road. Quality optics.

I understand that beginners don't want to spend alot of money on this hobby, but the first 4 telescopes are made with cheap optics in my opinion and also these brands are quite unpopular like Celestron or Skywatcher etc
