This is why I'm subbed. So few YouTubers are willing to expose themselves to carcinogens for my amusement.

Using April fools as an excuse to get wildly stoned on toxic solvent fumes on YouTube. This man is a genius... At least he used to be. I imagine he only has a few brain cells left after this.

This should be a performed by a panel of experts (AvE, This Old Tony, and Hand Tool Rescue) in an ice fishing cabin with a cooler of beer. Safety first!

Well done, I’m not sure if Todd from “Project Farm” would have done it differently, (I would expect weight and temperature testing as well) I would like to nominate him as well as AvE, ToT, BigClive, HTR and VVG to the Northern Hemisphere Consortium for the tasting (I mean testing) of lubricants for the use in mechanical contrivances! Again well done!

While some may confuse this video with a joke, as it is April 1st. I assure you this is no laughing matter and this man is in fact serious. Nothing is more important than the smell of penetrating lube. Thank you for selfless service to bring forth such important information.

Be careful! I did this very same test. All my joints became loose and my body fell off!!?

Marvel Mystery Oil has always been my favorite. Still smells good when you torch something seized up but still just enough like cancer so you know you shouldn’t be huffing it.

Starrett's M1 has vanilla scent added to its formula, it is very recognizable when you smell it and a bit confusing when you stop to eat after drenching your hands in it

I'm disappointed that PB Blaster doesn't smell like peanut butter.

I know the story of why the PL-100 smells like cured bacon. It began in 1985 with a man named Pierre Labouchère who wanted a distinctive Canadian flair to his penetrating oil formulation. He instructed his scientists to add the extract of virgin sap from 100 year old blue maple trees, which is a rare and relatively unknown species, only found in the most remote regions of Nunavut. The acidic nature of this extract makes it unsuitable for syrup production but is ideal for breaking down hydrated iron oxides and curing meats, particularly pork, hence your association of its smell with bacon. Because the addition of this versatile extract was so revolutionary in the industry, the marketing folks decided to commemorate Pierre's contributions by naming the product PL-100 and providing it in a blue can. Fascinating history. 🍻

Finally. I've been waiting patiently for exactly this. Thank you for finally answering the question that it seems nobody had time for.

Fluid film is more of an automotive under coating. I agree with everyone else, I like the Project Farm style take, good to hear more than just a word or two from you in a single video!

I hadn't thought of doing a test. But, two products that I don't mind the smell. I have used Hoppe's gun solvent as a penetrant when I was in a bind. It smells pretty good. Marvel Mystery Oil doesn't smell bad, either.

This should be done in front of a rip-roaring fire in a woodstove. The final test to see is what colors
these sprays create when shot directly into the fire.

This has been my 5-year-old daughter's absolute favorite video for the past few months. "Can we watch the silly guy again? I want the smelling video, " she says. She cracks up, and I mean like hunched-over belly laughs, every time you combine the three oils at the end and exclaim, "Augh! I've done it!" I told her I thought it was great that out of all the videos on the internet, she chose this one as her favorite, and that she loves watching restoration videos so much. She asked, "Why? Why is restoration so important? Because it teaches us not to inhale dangerous chemicals like this?" (Her vocabulary, as you might be able to tell, is more advanced than your average 5-year-old.) I took the opportunity to explain a few reasons that it's good not to just toss something when it breaks and get a new one, and it created yet another teaching and bonding opportunity. We just started watching it, and when you asked, "Is smelling inhaling?" she responded, "Yes, " at the same time you said it. Man, it makes me laugh and swell with pride.

This guy's the best. I can always count on a few good hearty laughs every time I watch one of his videos.

Kroll is the best. I've never had a penetration oil that removed nose hair as accurately

Thank you for validating my love of the smell of penetrating oil - I can't wait to inform my family that I'm not insane.
