I get the vibe that as much as these are fun clips posted for lulz, underneath is serious explorations of modelling/animating/rendering techniques. As a total layman, the hard body and soft body physics have always been awesome, but sometimes there's a clear emphasis on water rendering/sim, hair/fur/feathers, etc. The squash, stretch, and motion blur here look really impressive, and it's easy to forget it's no simple feat to animate it to this fidelity.
