This picture was taken in what has now been retroactively named “The Ol’ Fashioned Summer of 1926”. Now preserved in The Library of Congress Collection, historians have hailed the discovery of this photo as a landmark in modern understanding of the urban culture and social life of Harlem in the 1920s.

Forty three years later, Axel Animanna was elected to Congress with an landslide majority of 69.69% of the vote. He dedicated his life to public service and social justice. A bronze statue of Axel modelled after his younger self now stands proudly in Manhattan.

Axel’s friends and colleagues also went on to achieve great things. Sephiro “Spinnie” Stevenson (known for his trademark “spinning” bow tie) was able to start his own nightclub empire after the end of Prohibition. Abraham “Slim” Daniels (known for his slim physique and smart choice of attire in his iconic blue suits) became a New York real estate mogul. Becoming the true embodiment of The American Dream, Daniels beginnings in the slums and rise to the very top became an inspiration to many working class Americans. Lastly, Robert “Bob” Kirk-Johnson (known for his trademark red-ribboned straw hat) established the “Whole Team Mall Group”, which pioneered the growth of retail in the post-World War 2 era.

Axel still remembers the good old days, strolling through the streets of Harlem with his… urmm… roommates, right behind him. To this day, Harlem yearns for the “Old Fashioned Love” of these years. In 2023, New York City Mayor Eric Adams reopened the apartment where Axel and his roommates lived as a museum, preserving the training grounds of “The Four Ballin’ Pioneers” for all future generations to see.

The museum continues to inspire Americans from all over. Now one question remains. When will you visit?

Ah, memories of my great granduncle. He served in WWII and I remember he told me about when he modified his Army base's Jeep with these things called "forgies", never really knew what he meant by that but it was always a fun story.

I remember my great grandfather telling me about axel and the times they spent together strolling around Harlem and walking to that old apartment building. He and axel are still very good friends to this day and often look back fondly at the time they spent together.
