Hearing one Florida manto another Florida man "that's the most Floridian thing I've ever heard" is it something I knew I needed to hear today

Thyroid cancer is very hard to diagnose unless you go to your doctor regularly. I was lucky I went to a doctor for hypothyroidism for years and she felt the lump. Six years later, cancer free. Thankful to the doctor who found it and the one who removed the thyroid. My scar is almost invisible.

“Florida Man has cancer for 2 1/2 years without noticing, tries to beat it with a pool noodle and several 6-Packs of beer”.

It really is. If you ever watch Dr. Pimple Popper, all of the most advanced and horrifying skin condition cases come from Florida, and every Floridian patient basically says “yeah I’ve had this for several years now. Went to the doctor (in Florida) and they said it was fine so I let it go, but when it started covering like, *most of my body* I knew I needed to do something.”

The most devious thing about most forms of cancer is that it doesn't hurt.
Short-term, the treatment is what makes you miserable. Cancer kills you slowly and silently. (Except lung cancer, that shit makes you cough and wheeze for years).

In all fairness I am also from Florida and I walked on a torn ACL for 3 years before I had a surgery so yeah I can see this

😂😂 It’s rude cancer doesn’t announce it’s arrival.

Momma was a Floridian and had ovarian cancer for 19 years. Luckily it was slow growing so when they did remove it it wasn't too too bad (though she lost an ovary she didn't lose anything else)

I can relate, I had Basil Cell Carsinoma for like 10yrs & didn't have a clue until last year... But cancer free & 2 lumps later😁🤷‍♀️

I had a brain tumor for five years. My doctors consistently failed to diagnose. You’ve got a love the American healthcare system.

As a thyroid cancer survivor, I relate. Cheonic fatigue, brain fog, constantly cold or hot, energy drained, all of it.

Yeah, something similar happened to me.
I was eventually diagnosed at 16 with stage 4 cancer after 7 years of going to the doctors for years, begging them for help, but they brushed me off.

One Ped. ENT said that I "was at that age" and just "looking for attention, and it didn't matter where it came from."

That was 3 months before my diagnosis.

Now, because of their incompetence, I lost my right eye and I am nearly deaf in my right ear. I have seziures, severe adrenal insufficency, and will have life-long pain.

Since my diagnosis 8 years ago, I have had nearly 50 surgeries with more planned for the rest of this year.

My mother in law had a massive (and visible) growth on her thyroid that she complained about for YEARS to doctors and they literally told her to her face that she was being overly anxious, and she would feel better if she lost weight… Four years of complaining and then they FINALLY agree to do a biopsy and two months after the biopsy, after dozens of calls by her to get answers, they finally call her back while she’s at work and said “the results came back, and oh yeah, it’s cancer.”
She had stage three, and it had invaded her parathyroid.
Post surgery, they didn’t inform her that she would also have to take Vit D and Calcium for basically the rest of her life, and a few weeks later, she went into a hypocalcemic seizure and almost died…
The whole ordeal was a total circus of medical malpractice…

Doctors in Florida decides/choose when or if they want to tell you something that’s vitally important about your health. They wait till an HMO states it’s ok to tell the patient or wait till the doctors “milk” the insurance companies first to secure their house payments, car upgrade, planned vacations and altered lifestyle decisions that COULD interfere with their plans. A fun FACT. 😱🤣

My mother had the exact same thing but instead of 2 years it was closer to 10. And she didn't even know until she had her thyroid removed.

I had a benign tumor giving me headaches, causing weight gain, and messing with my hormones for about a decade before we noticed on an unrelated CT scan.
