That DBS is still the best looking. The new astons can’t compete with the DB9/DBS for their looks. Still beautiful but not on that level.

Thanks once again Mike for an informative and fun video. Having owned a DB9.1 many years ago and now being an owner of a 2010 DBS auto, for me the DBS is the one, it just mixes the perfect combination of GT and sports car characteristics. And on your final point of how you feel on the glance over your shoulder after parking up, I think a Quantum silver DBS has a timeless beauty that is right up there with other stunning looking Astons..

Good review. I'd like to see a similar comparison of DBS vs DB9.2

I had the same problem when I was looking at my first Aston my choices were DB11 Vanquish or DBS . I looked for about a year and then I got a call about a car that was traded in to Aston Martin Auckland New Zealand that’s where I live by the way . And it’s a 2009 DBS manual with low km Casino Royal grey and I was in love and I’ve had it now about 2 years .

Db11 seems like a gateway car to a full-on electric DB in the future. For me it's wonderful to enjoy the analog, visceral and primal experience of the DBS for as long as one can.

3rd option would be a 2016 DB9 GT. Also around the 85-90k mark if you can actually find one. Stock they have a newer interior than the DBS (straight from the newer Vanquish) and has another 30bhp too. This was my question too and I went for the DB9 GT. Authentic Aston with upgraded tech. It's phenomenal!

I love the faff of starting my 2011 DB9, its what sold it to me (yes very sad i know as my wife tells me ) Also I love lifting the bonnet showing off the beautiful clean engine bay those massive intakes with unlike the DB11 is just pipes and plastic. A real blokes car the DB9/S, great video Mike

Great review. And you are absolutely right the late model year DB9 delivers even moore for the money!

Thanks for posting; your videos are always hugely informative. I have two comments: first, had you put the DB11 AMR into sports or sports plus mode, the “boaty feel” would have gone; next, a true comparison would have been not with the arguably horribly over powered 600 hp AMR (which by the way can’t currently be bought for less than £110k) but with the 500 hp DB11 V8. These are though very small points; its always a pleasurable education to listen to your thoughts.

Perfect analysis of what we really need. Every day ownership.

The supposed increased roominess of the DB11 appeals to me. At 6'8 I literally couldn't get into a DB9/S, no idea about a 2013 Vanquish (my ideal car) and haven't tried a DB11 yet.

The only thing is I don't like the look of the DB11 and not having naturally aspirated kind of takes away the whole thing of the Aston V12.

DBS for my money. A more raw and real experience all round.

DBS for me or V12 Vantage. I enjoyed my V8 Vantage for a few years as a daily. Fancy a V12 at some point.

Great video clip. Just collected my V12 Vantage S this week. It’s more like a miniature DBS in that it is analogue in its feel and it’s a tiny car. Slightly bigger all round than a merc SLK but with a V12 lump. It still amazes me how AM got that engine in such a small body. Super smooth on the road and doesn’t bounce at all on rough surfaces. I thought it would track pretty poorly because of the rear 295 tyres but it’s rock-solid. The power seems to be more with the sport button pressed- got wheel spin in 5th in the wet yesterday which I wasn’t expecting but totally controllable and not scary. It’s exactly what I was expecting and more as I had been researching and test driving for 2 years before the correct car became available. Lightweight wheels and carbon bucket seats was a must. The angle of the bucket seats puts you in the perfect position of control. Drove it from London up to Scotland and the comfort of those seats is amazing. In front of the seat, there is a pocket with extra lumbar cushions should you need it which is a nice touch. The looks, the performance, the amazing sound makes the driving experience so special. I absolutely love it..

This is a great channel. I've owned 2 V12 Aston's (Virage and Vanquish 8-speed) and both were great. The Vanquish was replaced by an inferior F12. I'm a Porsche guy really and although there is a wall of Porsche content out there, none is as good as this sensible advice on this channel. Having owned a few special cars I agree completely with the comment here that they are all dynamically better than you need on public roads - it's how you feel about them that's key. The reliability, in my experience (2000's cars onwards), has always been good.

Out of the DBS & DB11, I pick the Virage. 😉

DBS is the best looking car of all time.

A 250gto is a squished tomato, a Bugatti Royale is a constipated teckel dog, etc.

I love the VH era cars, and most of the other eras too, but i think that the C2 cars are just as good and represent progress. I think it is just the shock of the new. I adore my DB11.

Nice spec improvement on the DB11.
However, 2010 DBS for me.
