It really is an awesome footage.
I have never before seen such an F35 in real operation and detailed U2 takeoff and Landing video.

8:12 - that thumb up means engine 1 is online and the Plane Captain (not crew chief) is ready to move to the next step, which is streamlining the flaps & ailerons.
8:18 - he is telling the pilot to hold because there are maintenance personnel (trouble-shooters) under the aircraft.
8:29 - the engine are already started, the movement he is doing with his hands is a means of safety, for people in the area to stay clear of the aircraft as it is running its FCS BIT sequence for the integrity of the flight control surfaces/systems.
8:50 - the plane captains do compete with each other on their launches, it can be fun as each person may add a personal touch to their launch.
9:53 - now they are being launched, taxi, nose steering checks, brake test, launch.
The hand signals are universal, at least, throughout the Navy.

Those Marines were Hooking up "COOLING AIR" to ground run AVIONICS not pressure starting the engine. They don't need external Air or Power to start the engine
