Ignis is unbelievably powerful, but Wroughtnaut is designed to be killable by a player, and nothing else. It's got a weakpoint that needs to be targeted to deal any damage, at a particular time, which most mobs are not equipped with the AI to do so. Wroughtnaut is the ultimate enemy in these mob versus mob fights, and close to nothing can overcome it. If Ignis is put up against anything he can consistently hit, he's pretty much set up for victory. He's the best in offensive capabilities. But his lifesteal, which normally can carry him through fights against enemies with otherwise equal or even superior stats, doesn't work if he can't land a blow. Thus, the Wroughtnaut beats him (almost) every time.
