My favorite book of fiction. Found it thirty years back and never found anything that comes close. Lem to me is a guy who likes to point out the world's absurdities then kick back and have a good laugh over it. Satire that's all in good fun and not mean spirited.

I found it a philosophical work clad in a cute surreal scifi package more then anything else.

This book is hilarious. I personally think any fan of sci-fi would like it.

East European humor. Some of Lem's books are very complex but his early humorous stories are as funny as anything I have ever read. Alderman library at the University of Virginia used to have a large selection of his books. Trurl and Klapaucius are a satiric take on scientists; they are robots who can build almost anything once they imagine it but they are emotional, very petty and have zero, or negative, common sense.
