I hope you all enjoy this animated music video! I had storyboarded this originally in 2019 and held it off for a while. However this has finally been completed and initially premiered at the Newgrounds Australia event!
The name of the glasses guy is Mark, and I'm sure some have noticed that he looks similar to NOX from @JamesLee , which was absolutely the original intention! Consider it a tribute to his works that inspired my art for several years. Check out his works if you haven't already!
Be rest assured that Mark has a well paid off holiday after the events of this video.

Fun fact!

There is a standing rule in the UN that, if we encounter an existential threat to mankind (like hostile first contact), then all recognized nations will band together and pool resources to deal with that threat. In fact, I'm fairly sure that a nation has to agree to that in order to be recognized by the UN at all.

Some things are just more important than our squabbles.

What I love the most about this song is that the aliens if they were speaking the truth, we’re just innocently asking if humans want to impress them. Like a parent telling their kids that they’ll be impressed if the kid vacuums their room or something. And then they come back to THAT

1:58 really like this scene and how it reflects the lyrics at 1:42: One of the three ships escaped, while the others crashed into a nearby city, so humanity took two-thirds, and (probably) only lost one fifth!

We have numerous stories of a creation attacking or killing it's creator. This is because humans only have ourselves as a reference point, and therefore presume a sapient creation would act as we would. Extrapolating this, we can assume that humans would act this way, especially towards a figure that has threatened you and has proven that they can carry out this threat (they created you after all).

Something I enjoy is that the creators seemingly didn’t specify what they’d do if we weren’t up to snuff. Maybe it’d just be a situation where “welp gonna wait another 1000 years but for now you can’t join the interstellar community” but we assumed that it was a “you’ll be destroyed” situation
