"The Cardinals uniforms aren't even arriving until June."
... Are their bats supposed to arrive then too? 😏😏

“The number of fastballs over 100 had tripled in just 3 years” yea im not surprised injuries have exploded. With so much spin and speed now it seems like injuries are inevitable atp

THANKS FOR MENTIONING THE LAST DIVE BAR people!!! They have been working hard to keep sports in Oakland. Grew up going to games at the coli and those guys were always there celebrating the town

I don't think the pitch clock is breaking pitchers arms. I think throwing 96+ mph is. The pitch clock has only been around for a season and arm blowouts have been going up for a while. Not every pitcher needs to be a velocity pitcher, especially before they are 25...

all of this would matter if baseball existed...

Whoa whoa whoa, the Dodgers didn't offer Ohtani that contract. Ohtani offered that contract to multiple teams but the Dodgers were one of two teams that agreed to that contract.

White Sox having 6-22 in the starting month is absolutely insane

The injury trend chart basically shows that it has nothing to do with the pitch clock since the biggest peak in the minor league was the year before the pitch clock. Also for MLB there basically is no difference 2012 had 42 which is similar to 2023.

Its obviously velocity.

I was talking with a former MLB pitching coach and he claims that the reason injuries have gone up is because the league has cracked down on illegal substances. In an effort to spin the ball like they used to (illegally) they contort and whip their arms more, causing more injuries. When I asked, he said that 3 years ago over 3/4 of his pitching rotation (which I won't name) was abusing sticky substances and that was, according to him, about average compared to other MLB teams

2024 is the most exciting I think the sport has been since maybe the Sosa/Mcguire era. All kinds of wild shit happening all over the league, these injuries have been hard to watch though, too many too early.

I don't watch baseball, but I always enjoy watching BDE. Great coverage of MLB controversies/news and honestly makes baseball more entertaining.

The Blanco story is amazing to hear. That dude worked his butt off to get where he is now. Wishing him the best once his suspension is up, which I believe is bogus

The pitch clock has nothing to do with pitchers who refuse to adjust to having no grip enhancers. They are blowing their arms out instead of adjusting how they throw.

It’s absolutely velocity. If you look at bullpen sessions, the only thing you hear from the coaches is something along the lines of, “that was 89, let’s see 90.” Then as soon as they get 90, “there you go, now take it another gear up, give me 91.” Always telling them to throw harder and harder. 2 out of every 3 corrections are something to do with either the velocity or spin numbers being too low. The human elbow is not designed to handle these types of forces, it’s that simple. It’s why there aren’t hardly any Olympic gymnasts over the age of 25, because by 25 gymnastics will have destroyed your body to the point where you can’t compete at that level anymore. Figure skating too. The world champs are like 14 for “men’s” figure skating. Or a 13 year old “women’s” figure skating champion. The sad truth is that it’s likely physically impossible for a person to maintain average velocities in excess of 100mph for an extended period of time without injury.
