My Book Review of BUFFALO DREAMER, a Middle-Grade Novel by Author Violet Duncan

I’ve read many middle-grade stories and met many amazing and unique characters along my reading journey, yet I’ve not come across many 99-page books that have traveled so deeply into my heart and mind, as my most recent read, BUFFALO DREAMER, a novel by Native children's author Violet Duncan. BUFFALO DREAMER is a modern day historical fiction novel that travels with readers through storytelling and time, sharing insights into the author and her family's Indigenous life, as seen through eyes of Duncan's protagonist, Summer. BUFFALO DREAMER teaches historically powerful hidden truths about the treatment of native children and families and shares a healing and hopeful message for a better tomorrow.
