Sun downing got to be so dangerous family had to put our great aunt in a home for round the clock care. Months of issues before hand including an attempt to hurt an officer with a knitting needle. We got very lucky that officer had dealt with his father's decline years prior and provided emotional support and reassurance.

I was pretty young when it happened. I'm told that the family realized that something was wrong with great grandma when she started to get upset with me instead of her usual loving hugs. Mom felt bad that she had to move her grandma out to another relative's home; but she was concerned for my safety. The eventual diagnosis proved that my mom's instincts were correct.

My grandpa had dementia and this is what he had. He died when i was 10 and now i am 15 and it still haunts me to this day.

Time to get a support in this. Another relative, a friend, your mother's friend, whoever you can.

Like a scared animal or child, a rebel teenager, the mother is acting on her primal ned to protect herself. With a calm third person, perhaps she will calm down. Saying, ok, let's go to sleep, and tomorrow morning we will work this out. By tomorrow, the mother's emotional outburst will be forgotten. And perhaps (don't know, maybe?) a solution would be to temporarily put the mother in that friend's house on that emotional outbursts, til the next day. Or other solutions.

So about how much time do we have left once in this stage? I know it’s different for EVERYONE but what’s the common range we’d make it after mid stage?

My ex husband and his mother lived with me during this point of her dementia. My boyfriend at this time is a cop and he and his patrol partner would come over to help if it got to bad. Needless to say my ex husband could tell his mother wasn't going to be far off. So now he is putting her into a nursing home and he's leaving 6 months after that.

This is exactly what my grandma does, now i know she is in the middke stage but my parents never get her to the doctor because they think we dont need someone to tell us that theres something wrong woth her because its obvious. But first of all theres nothing "wrong" with HER shes just sick. Also that would help her to get a treatment plan. Any recommendations?
