This used to be on Saturday afternoons on BBC One in the early 1970s. I was about 10 and I never missed an episode.

This is one of- if not THE- earliest memory I can remember in life. Went to Mexico one year and remember watching nothing but this and Speed Racer

They used to play this back in Guadalajara Mex back in the 90s. I grew up watching this shows on Saturday mornings. ❤ Great Memories!!

Regarding the steering wheel (or lack thereof), the car was on display at a custom auto show in about 1970 and I clearly recall the steering control. It had two hand-held activators that looked exactly like the slot car controls of that era. Depressing the plunger on the right control turned it right and vice-versa. You can see from the swerving in the video, it was difficult to control. At some point over the car’s history, that steering system was replaced by a steering wheel although I’ve read that it is still awkward steering from the forward position of the driver. Nevertheless, still very cool!
