Makes sense that min heejin is a graphic designer considering how insane the branding of newjeans is. Their packaging and aestethic is a graphic designer's wet dream

No groups did Y2K before New Jeans? Stayc and Weeekly come to mind instantly.

I'll say this: NewJeans has a clear branding and color from the beginning, and that is _all_ Min Heejin. However, she took trainees that Hybe/Source Music had initially recruited (regardless if they were set to debut or be cut, MHJ did not audition and choose them to from a general audition), and used money from & the name of Hybe to produce and market this group. NJ is the product of MHJ _and_ Hybe. NewJeans most likely would not have seen this sort of success had MHJ built Ador on her own without Hybe (or another large company) to back her up with resources.

I'm not supporting one side or the other. This whole situation is a big mess. Hybe is probably looking to axe Min Heejin _because_ she's upset about Illit. However, MHJ keeps deflecting on _all_ of the questions being asked about the hostile takeover. She's standing on public opinion and her personal relationships while Hybe is airing out way too much of their company drama. No one else will maintain NJ's creative image like MHJ, but if this woman really was planning a hostile takeover, I wouldn't trust her if I was leadership at Hybe.

its so much to wrap my head around, just sucks NewJeans will certainly take a significant hit in some way from all this mess D:

Personally, I feel illit is more dreamcore than y2k and yeah there is familiarity between the groups, but honestly there is familiarity throughout ALL of kpop.

This really breaks down to money and power, who has it and who wants it. However this plays out in court, the ones who will actually feel the negative effects are artists, not the ceos and management.

If she leaves, I hope HYBE is smart enough to have Shin Woo-seok (mv director) to oversee the groups image, Kim Eun-ju and BLACK.Q (main choreographers) to oversee the dances and have the producer "250" overlook the music production. It has to be an intense and close collaboration between the NJ and those I mentioned in order to keep and retain the sound/look without the overall direction of MHJ if she gets kicked out.

how hard is it to do an unbiased reporting of this it’s so hard to form an actual opinion when people “just reporting the news” clearly have an opinion

Not gonna lie. When I first saw illit thumbnail for magnetic, I clicked because I thought new jeans had a comeback that I missed

Bang Si Hyuk and HYBE don't care about NJ, it's weird finding out there are ZERO NJ shorts on the HYBE official YT, though there shorts for every other group. He has no pictures with the members or any quotes of anything positive to say about them, this massively successful group that everyone loves. A stark contrast to his relationship with LSF.

Whatever you think about MHJ, it's obvious Bang has no love for the group. He doesn't get to be the genius creator of the NJ sensation, he can only say he hired the right person. If they're left at HYBE, they're going to be put in the dungeon.

I don't see MHJ staying at Hybe. However, I don't think MHJ would have been able to do what she did with NJ all on her own without Hybe's resources - not just money but connections, music, network, training etc. If she could have she would have. Allegedly, she even borrowed the money to buy her shares from Bang. It's a huge mess and NJ have been hurt by adults they trusted to care for and protect them.

One thing I don't see people talking enough about is how Min Hee Jin is directly targetting three artists: iLLit, Le Sserafim, and BTS. These groups are getting a massive amount of hate right now because of how she spoke of them in her press con. BTS is even being investigated *again* for already debunked sajaegi allegation back in 2017 because of Min Hee Jin and her "public opinion campaign." This "May public opinion campaign" was in the documents HYBE uncovered, and it's so sad to see these innocent artists being targetted when they've done nothing wrong. Min Hee Jin even used company money to pay for her shaman friend to wish ill on other HYBE artists.

There are some De Ja Vu on this (or some sort)

Former LOONA creative director Jaden Jeong leave the company after BBC (the new management) decided to scrap off the LOONAverse concept storyline (though the preference of concept still exist in the later releases from "So What" to "Flip that!", the storyline never progresses) aside from problems with the agency's finances and debt, which led to the cracks began to form and even the mistreatment of LOONA began to reveal. If I recount, Jaden was the visionary behind LOONAverse concept/storyline in which he's proud of, and he broke his heart when he's not going further with the 12 girls. Therefore, LOONA will NOT be the SAME without Jaden Jeong.

So as MHJ and NewJeans, if MHJ will kicked out by HYBE, the NewJeans will NOT be the same and much more HYPE and POPULAR without MHJ. Like Jaden, she's also the visionary (just like it said) of creating a new group in a different kind of concept, the style, and even the looks. Plus, NewJeans members were already ATTACHED to MHJ, and treat like its second mother to them.

So sad 😢

The fight isn’t over New Jeans it’s about money, power and control. Ador’s CEO couched it as her and New Jeans against the big bad corp HYBE (in that classic narcissistic, manipulative press conference) when it’s really about her wanting complete control over New Jeans and Ador. More importantly it is about her wanting to be the CEO of a major brand on par with HYBE. When HYBE didn’t bend the knee and give her what she wanted because well…contracts which she willingly signed and got handsomely compensated she attempted a coup with outside investors. Only people who are going to suffer in the end is New Jeans because well you know, she loves them like a mother. 🙄

Is your part 2 going to include New Jeans copying the original group “Jeans”?

Dumb of HYBE to release Illit when they had New Jeans on the books. You give Magnetic to New Jeans and that song would have trended globally. GLOBALLY. MHJ is right, HYBE got greedy.

It seems like a lot of people haven't watched the conference...
I hope people watch the conference from beginning to end and then talk about it.
Articles distributed by sites with messy translations like allkpop focus only on what they find provocative during the two-hour discussion.
Most Koreans who watched the conference did so without any bias,
as many of them didn't even know who Min Hee-jin was.
Despite differing opinions on Min Hee-jin's somewhat intense tone, if you delve into the content of her words,
you'll see that Hybe was consistently countered with evidence and arguments.
This aspect might not be apparent to international audiences. Among those interested in this issue abroad, many are already fans of K-pop and are familiar with Min Hee-jin or Bang Si-hyuk to some extent, and already have preconceived notions about them.
Viewing the issue through such fixed ideas, those who already dislike Min Hee-jin for whatever reason will try to find fault in everything she says or does.
However, when typical Koreans encountered this news, there were likely more people uninterested in K-pop or idols,
and many who had just learned who Min Hee-jin was.
Therefore, they would have viewed the issue without any bias and focused on the content,
regardless of her appearance or tone being standing out and different from norm. (Even though that is how she dress even on other interviews and award shows)
Sometimes when you hear stories from international fans, it seems like they think Koreans live their lives entirely focused on K-pop,
but in reality, there are more people who aren't interested at all. So, there's no infiltration or change in opinions.
Looking back at the Fifty Fifty situation, most international fans supported Fifty Fifty and heavily criticized the CEO.
Most Koreans sided with the CEO. At that time, most Koreans didn't know who Fifty Fifty was, and they didn't know the CEO either.
They just found the CEO's story more credible and truthful when they heard from two people.

The difference in perspective between international fans and ordinary Koreans stems from several factors:
the inability to understand the language, the slower access to news, and the mistranslation or deliberate sensationalization of news by companies translating these articles,
resulting in international fans not receiving the accurate news.
Koreans typically encounter news about Min Hee-jin or FiftyFifty-related news about once an hour,
and these news pieces are often presented neutrally without taking sides.
Additionally, many Korean YouTubers neutrally analyze both sides of the argument and explain the correct and incorrect points,
allowing the public to make their own decisions based on the content. Because to most of them or general public, it is not that important since they are not fandom of any group.
It is interesting story and something to talk about, that is it.
However, international fans often encounter media that leans heavily towards one side, especially outlets like allkpop or Koreanboo.
Therefore, international fans frequently fail to access accurate information due to the influence of media.
For instance, the word 'bad' in English can have both positive and negative meanings, but when Koreans hear it, they often interpret it negatively.
Similarly, in Korean, translating words directly into English can result in distorted meanings, leading to misunderstandings and misconceptions.

Min Hee-jin didn't selectively show KakaoTalk messages to prove only what she wanted,
and at least she appeared more truthful than Hybe's official stance.
Korean lawyers and people in the entertainment industry are not fools; they are very smart people.
Most lawyers or marketing experts also think Min Hee-jin seems truthful, but they believe Hybe will prevail. Because they have 80% of share, and end of the day Big companies usually win.
But culturally, Min hee jin wins, because she talked about a lot of dark Side of Kpop general public did not know about, and now they knows. And trying to fix it.
From a neutral standpoint, it's not even important who wins.
It might be important to fans, but to the general public, whether this issue is positive or negative for K-pop as a whole matters.
It might be negative for Hybe, but when viewed in the context of the entire K-pop industry, it brings to the surface issues that have been swept under the rug for so long.
Min Hee-jin mentioned issues like photo cards and forced fan meetings (how it is hard for artists, fans, because of greed of companies) during this conference.
She also talked about industry-wide problems in the K-pop industry.
Why don't they talk about these issues? While focusing on Min Hee-jin's appearance and tone, no one properly translates and spreads the essence of the content.
By bringing up these issues, Min Hee-jin ultimately made Koreans who don't know much about K-pop realize that such problems exist.
Issues like forcing CD purchases randomly and the lack of uniqueness maintained by each label, even though innovative marketing methods like NewJeans have been utilized,
leading to the homogenization of the entire K-pop style...
It's not just an issue of illit copying; in the past, groups from the Big 3 companies all had the same style of music and fashion, leading to the uniformity of the entire K-pop scene.
If you're a multi-label, each one should be different. When one group succeeds, its style becomes a trend, and everyone starts following it.
However, leading that from the same company is wrong, and it negatively affects not just NewJeans and Illit but the entire K-pop culture.
That's why efforts are being made to change it.
International fans seems to be more focussed on min hee jin and hybe, who is right or wrong. When Koreans talk about something else, more of problems in Kpop and how to fix it.

She repeatedly admitted during her presser & later interviews that she spoke to outside investors, advisors & her shaman friend about Njs & HYBE. THAT is why her attorney tried to shut her up because she was admitting she violated her nda, employment contract, fiduciary duty’s, & violated the law. Regardless of the other evidence HYBE has, those are admissions. HYBE flipped one if the o/ former sm employees on the board who also admitted to speaking to advisors. They are all losing their jobs & frankly all the staff at ador should be culled & njs rolled into Source (where they were supposed to debut a way). If njs doesn’t want that they can break their contract, pay out the remaining 5-6 years & any penalties & leave all the njs ip w/ HYBE. I can’t believe you of all people are buying her horrible media play. Very disappointed. Will no longer watch your videos
