Mind blowing engineering 🤯 and they still have people who doubt we ever been to the moon and back and what's even more crazier than that is a US submarine probably is twice the complex of engineering to build than this TBM plus All the cost we certainly can accomplish extremely great things glad to be alive to witness it all like getting to watch the starships take flight is all history in the making 👍👍

All Chinese tbm failed in Bangalore for Bangalore metro project, but German tbm performed extraordinarily, minor glitches came but it overcome it and didn't stop and die like of Chinese one. Bangalore is in state of Karnataka which is in southern India 🇮🇳

What about the earth pressure balance during cutter blade change process?
Maybe it can be done at safer areas with harder soil then only and is rarely needed with soft soil.
Can this drive under sandy river or lake bottom?

You don't need a 12 metre tunnel for metro trains. 3.5 metres to about 4 metres is fine. That means the risk of subsidence is drastically reduced.
