What a surprise! This song was a hit in 1974 in France, when I was 13. 😊

Yet another great guitar fix delivered so casually, yet so precisely! Fooling me, once again, into believing I can play the guitar! GLORIOUS!!!

Thank you for tackling this song from before your time. A testament to the '70s hits. Fantastic job!

You should probably mention Reggie Young, the guitar player here. He was a famous studio cat out of Memphis who played some super riffs in the 60's and 70's, including Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield and Suspicious Minds for The King, among others. He also toured with Willie, Kris, Johnny, and Waylon as the Highwaymen. Nice work Pilgrim.

On the full length recording, a small audience is heard enthusiastically applauding the guitarist's performance on the outro. I read somewhere that their approval not only came from how well he played, but the fact that he pulled it off (twice) while a dog was tugging on his pants leg.

Thank you very much! You play it so lively like the whole band is playing with you. Beautiful guitar too. Cheers from Indonesia. 👍😀

Brilliant demo/ lesson! Thank you so much for sharing this one with us all. It was as far as I know the great Reggie Young on the original recording.

Cool song! Used to play it years ago in local pub using a backing track. Always shit myself when I had to play those lead double stops lines 😂

Love how you use your guitar in the thumbnail like it's a beautiful woman. You know your audience.

Hi! The chord is not just a Plus chord - but a plus b5
So - on the D string - lower it one note to a Db.
2. finger on E string 11. fret
3. finger on B string 12. fret
4. finger on G string 12. fret
1. finger on D string 11. fret

Hold that chord siding down.

Funny you mentioned Elvis. Billy Swan actually worked at Graceland for a time according to Google.

He also recorded another Elvis classic: "Don't be cruel". I had the single back in the day. It is an interesting take on that song.

I always played it major to relative minor alone. Great lesson.
