Gimbal video is NOT debunked THE-DE-DE-DE-De-BUNKING video of justice. Check and Mate! Mate!

I've used these targeting pods for 18 years and prove definitely in this video that the Gimbal video is NOT debunked. It is not "an airliner or fighter" miles away. I model the exact same turn with Digital Combat Simulator and prove with Mick West's own math where the UFO lies. If the video is legit, the UFO is real.

Even though I don't fully understand this, I must say I have massive respect for both Lehto and West for participating in the debate and trying to figure out what conclusions one can draw from this data. I trust both of you debate in food faith, not to win but to get closer to the truth. It is so refreshing. I also appreciate you both being good sports about it. There is nothing shameful in being wrong about something as long as you can take criticism and are not to proud to change your mind when it is due. Both of you are doing a great work!

I just LOVE how this discussion is being done respectfully and as scientifically as possible given the subject. Massive respect for both West and Letho.

DCS player here. For the F-18 autopilot to do a steady turn, hit the A/P button, then on the right 4 buttons hit BALT (barometric altitude hold), then roll to target roll angle (30 degrees in your case if you want standard turn), then hit ATTH (attitude hold). You should be able to release the controls and it should hold a steady 30 degree roll angle turn in level flight. You can also do a turn with the HSEL (heading select) button combined with BALT (barometric altitude hold). The heading switch is on the left under the center MFD. Click and hold left to turn left, right to turn right. You can also bring up the SA page on the right MFD (either works but let's just say right). To do that, hit the bottom middle MFD button a couple times, you should see SA on the right of the right MFD somewhere. Hit TDC right to select the MFD (you should see a diamond on the top right of the MFD to know it's active). Then iirc if you keep hitting TDC right the SA will swap between two display modes. One of them shows the heading bug, so you can use the heading switch to set the autopilot to whatever heading you want. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube. Search "DCS F18 autopilot" to bring up plenty of helpful vids.

If you get sucked into DCS like I did, buy yourself a VR headset and Thrustmaster Warthog or similar setup. You won't regret it, and they have the F-16 too now to make you feel right at home. :-D

On another note, I design and write fairly heavy physics models/software for a living. If you'd like some assistance with de-de-de-de-de-debunking anyone's stuff, just shout. In the meantime, I'm enjoying your UFO vids. Thanks for taking the time, and thanks for your service!

Thanks again. I’m a Mick West sub but really appreciate your contribution to the discussion. Fascinating topic! Appreciate the civility and would love a live debate if you guys want 👍

Look at me, just casually watching math arguments on a Thursday. My 16 year old self would punch me right now.

“Alien’s are never laughing...maybe that’s our superpower.” Thanks Chris for your years of service and valuable insights on this matter! Hoping a ‘like’ and a ‘subscribe’ help take a tiny bit of the sting out of the 80 dollar hit you took to get us this info.

The image of your wife walking in to you doing this again, but with your toy after you said it was the only one she hasn't broken, is fucking hilarious.

Refreshing to hear such a civilized debate. Terrific to hear objective arguments from both sides rather than flat out "you're WRONG and a HORRIBLE PERSON!" statements per typical UFO YouTube vids.

Mick should have you on his program!

Again - you don't have to be doing this or pumping out content like you are, but you are, and it's excellent content. Thank you SO MUCH for providing your perspective as a trained pilot. The level of detail is outstanding, and I get so much more out of watching someone who knows what they're looking at explain it while we're looking at it. Like - when you see those videos - I'm 100% certain you're absorbing every piece of that screen to draw the whole picture.

It completely boggles my every sense to think that someone with no flight experience, or credentials in a field remotely near this, would attempt to muddle a trained observer's perspective.

You are making a golden content! DCS sim really put Mick West’s debunk down. Keep doing we really appreciate it.

Thanks Chris, very interesting info again! And i want to let you know that the TV mode in the F-18 was working and they have those too but it's still classified! Hopefully more will be leaked this year....They have a lot of info from their satellites too....a lot!

I appreciate Mick West's contribution, but I get frustrated with him dismissing the accompanying witness, like; "there's a whole fleet of them.", and competent pilots doing their thing.

Thank you, Chris, for this walk through.

forget about the UAP for a second, by the end of this debate between Chris Lehto and Mick West every YouTuber is gonna learn a lot about fighter pilots tips and tricks.

Olá Chris, aerodynamicist here.
I think around minute 17:00, when you're explaining the influence of weight on load factor, I think you're not explaining things in a bit of a confusing manner, which is why there are people commenting on it. The load factor really only depends on the bank angle, as people are saying, but you're also right in saying that a fully fueled (heavier) aircraft turns differently. Turn rate decreases with the square root increase of the mass of the plane, and turn radius increases linearly with it, assuming the same aircraft and load factor.
I don't know to what particular hornet configuration these plots correspond to, but it's entirely possible that a 30º bank will result in a fully armed and fueled hornet to have a turn rate of 1.7º and a not loaded one to have higher turn rate, like the 2.27º you're seeing there. I also have the feeling some pulling of the stick, and action of the rudder might be at play here, but I'm not a pilot, so you'll know better than me, this is just pure uninformed speculation.
I don't have DCS, so could I ask you to try something? Is it possible to fly the hornet with different loaded weights? Like, try making a banked turn with the lowest possible weight (no armament, low fuel) and maximum possible weight (fully armed and fueled), try a 30º banked standard turn and see how the turn rate changes! I think that will help give us a range of the possible highest and lowest distance to UFO.
Lastly, I know pilots are taught in a certain way how planes produce lift, but it's not entirely correct. I don't fault you for that, but I think you'd like to understand better how the pressure differences are produced along the wings and fuselage. I recommend Alexander Lippisch's secret of flight, on youtube. It's really nice, and there's only one small mistake that science has been able to understand better over the years.
Aproveita bem Portugal!

How do you know what they were carrying to calculate weight/G? What is the range of weights/turn radii?

I'm more in West's camp, but I really, really appreciate the effort put into this, Chris.
This is going to be the only way we're going to rule out the more mundane possibilities off the list. I don't think that work has been done well yet, including at the Pentagon, so what you're doing is invaluable. What is needed is this level of nerdiness. Until this work is done, I'm going to have a hard time believing it's a craft doing impossible things.

Actual visualization of what we're talking about is going to be very helpful.

If anyone out there has the chops to do something interesting with all the available data, the community will thank you. But there's still a lot of data that we don't have access to.

Cheers from Portugal!!! ;)
