The welterweight division of the 70s ans 80s had quite a few great fighters but also a whole slew of almost great boxers like Hedgemon, Clyde Gray, Armando Muniz, Randy Shields, Pete Ranzany, Ernie Lopez Johnny Stracey. . Hedgemon might have been most talented of the bunch

Good classy boxer who just didn't quite have enough. For someone who was around celebrities and managed by Ryan O'Neal, the guy had no personality when I met him, but maybe he was just having a bad day. Lewis reminds me of another boxing contender from Detroit who couldn't get past the likes of Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad.

No Jr titles then and no alphabet soup. Napoles was an all time gteat. I'm not sure Hedgemon wouldn't have beat Curry or McGirt. There were certainly some lesser champs he would have beaten.
