Passive Irrigated Berry Bushes with Swales. Today, we're going to be discussing one of the most effective techniques for improving the health and yield of your landscape and your berry bushes: swales. Swales are essentially ditches that are dug into the ground to capture and retain rainwater, allowing it to slowly seep into the soil and nourish your plants. In this video, we'll be discussing the benefits of swales, how to design them for your specific garden, and the step-by-step process of digging and planting your berry bushes in swales #swales #diggingberryswales #handdiggingswales #permaculture #permacultureswales #swale #garden #gardening #passiveirrigation #homesteading #homestead #prepping #planting #plantingperennials #plantingberrybushes #blackberries #honeyberries #raspberries #homesteaddesign #gardendesign #farmstead #waterharvesting #harvestingwater #diggingswales #permaculturedesign #earthworks #permacultureearthworks #permacultureswales #permaculturegardening

Wow! I always thought making swells was so hard and took so long. I know its still a good amount of work, but you simplified it so much with this short! Thank you.

Awesome, thank you for the short.
I get only 6in of rain per year in my area, so as an adaptation I might plant directly into the swale here.

Amazing work! Have you considered growing strawberries, clover, or flowers like lupine or daffodils as companion plants?

Looks easy enough

Is the A Frame absolutely necessary?

You are failing to mention the most important feature of a swale. It is curved against a rise in the landscape to catch rainwater runoff, so that water is captured and conserved in the ground.
