id recommended filling in all the empty spaces inside the cardboard with paper crumpled so its a little more sturdy regardless of it being covered in plaster

For improved rigidity, you could fill in the empty spaces with insulating foam before you seal the back. It will still be super light, but less likely to buckle, especially if it gets wet.
Also, instead of fully cutting out the "windows, " you could just cut the upper edges and bend them back, so the front of the cardboard becomes the floor of the shelf. That will also increase the structural integrity.
That said, the plaster and papier-mache may be rigid enough, I can't tell from looking at it.

This gives harry potter vibes, each section designed like the great hall ect. With small items for each section that you want to store. Also would do top of the castle to make it realistic. Think I'm going to give it a go thou. Yours is a cool idea thou

Now instead they will collapse from a small amount of weight
