Thank god I was saying it right. Their logo sometimes has a bird nest so the connection I thought was “to nestle or get comfortable”, and I questioned my whole life

i am from a cookery class and everyone keeps pronouncing it as “Nesel” and i also keep on correcting them that it's “Nes-Ley” because the letter E has apostrophe in it. lol, i feel genius😂

There is a finesse in pronouncing NESTLÉ with a French accent. Hats off to the originator of the name.

I come from SE Louisiana near New Orleans and there is a heavy French influence here and we pronounce it as you did. 20% of the names in my High School were French, 20% Spanish, 20% Italian and the rest, English, German, and others.

Hi! So I understood that French speakers might pronounce this word in 3 different ways. Is that right?

I bit into a Nestle candy bar over 40 years ago. NEVER AGAIN!!! There's enough sugar in one bite to put an elephant into a diabetic coma.

But it’s the founders name and he was German so wouldn’t that mean that the name should be pronounced in the German way?

The name does NOT originate from the french speaking part of switzerland.
The comoany is located there and the spelling was changed there, but the name originates from german founder Heinrich nestle (no accent!).
Nestle in german is pronounced nestlè and means a small nest in south german dialect. I have to assume the founder just wasn't firm with french accents and chose the wrong one by accident.
