The Wine Festival in Lemesos (Limassol) can be regarded as a variant in some way; as a revival of ancient festive manifestations of worship in honor of Dionysus, the god of vine and wine, and Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love. during these feasts the man worshipped the gods but primarily enjoyed himself.

This year the Wine Festival in Limassol will be held from the 28th of August until the 7th of September at the Limassol Municipal Gardens.
The Wine Festival of Cyprus is always held in Limassol. It was first held in the year 1961 and has grown since then to become an annual event. Every year more than 100.000 visitors from all over Cyprus and out of Cyprus attend the festival. The motto of this wine festival is 'Drink wine, it gives you life!'
