remember, this form was made just because Sir Cristopher Lee was proficient in Fencing and thought it was a good idea to implement it in his character

This is the best lightsaber form for realism, as it is all based off of real footwork and guards/parries in fencing and HEMA. You guys did an amazing job, great work!

Count dooku is *easily* my favorite character in star wars! And I'm so happy to find a tutorial on form II

As someone with a double jointed elbow this weirdly is for me the most natural method because of how flexible they are

Makashi is excellent for saber to saber combat. Love the video and May The Force Be With You.

Being offensive and because I own the curved lightsaber. This is the perfect form for me.I have mastered this to the Ful list of the point where I don't even have to move much muscles.Just account for somebody and strike them.I can literally do this till I'm old.I can see why christopher lee was able to keep fencing all the way until he was in his eighties

Dang, I’d actually really like to see another one of these guide videos showcasing the forms going against each other!

From practicing my way through this video, I'm finding a surprising amount of noteworthy nuance for this form.

For starters, the footwork operates on a different rhythm than it previously has (as in going off of the basics and Shii-Cho), which may throw you off at first, but what I've found is that it much less dictates your saber swings, instead simply following along, as you can almost end up double timing it. And you can add a new element into your rhythm of movement, which is your body's height, this works particularly well for getting more telegraphing and an easier angle for those vertically alternating combos like the 4-2-4-8. Plus it is something I've seen actual fencers do so it isn't unrealistic at all.

Then I noticed that there are multiple depths at which you can block. I call the standard one shown here the close block, because I am describing a "far" block, nearly a cut and sporting much less surface area than the close one, but if you angle your blade a lot more towards your opponent, you can clash blades in the space of their windup rather than their full swing.
From a choreography stand point, this makes Makashi look a lot more dangerous to go up against, as, if done properly, the blade's point simply never faces noticeably far away from the other person and I find it gives the person doing the far blocks a significant air of control, specifically because they are not just blocking at the last moment but anticipate the incoming attack so far in advance, they nip it in the bud before it can get its full force. In fact these angles are practically necessary to have if you want to make thrusts target more zones than the dedicated 9s (like the strikes to shoulder and leg that took Obi-Wan out of the episode II duel with Count Dooku) and have them be defendeable with Makashi.

Another interesting element of the bladework I found for myself is that, because you only have the one hand on your hilt, you have access to a flicking technique that is really fast but also surprisingly controlled. If you hold your hilt just between your thumb and palm, keeping your other fingers outstretched, you will find your lightsaber get a bit floaty. Snapping your hand shut into a form grip will flick your blade forwards, specifically ending up roughly where your pinky finger was pointing. Keep in mind a couple degrees of overswing from the momentum, in case your lightsaber is heavy enough to force a springing motion rather than coming to a straight stop where you intended, and you only wind up needing to turn your wrist to swap between targer zones rather than making a whole arm motion. However, take care that you warm up well beforehand because this goes pretty hard on your hand.

And a final bit of note: There is a very substantial difference between sides. Me being ambidexterous, I tried to follow along with part of this left-handed and quickly came to realize that it is indeed very awkward to attack from the side your back is facing. Try mirroring the offense of 4-2-4-8 and you'll see what I mean. You simply can't get nearly as much wind up out of that angle and therefore things are bound to feel awkward and weak, especially if you keep playing on the side. Blocking isn't as bad, but it's an interesting factor to take into account for your choreography, making those off-side swings more into less common mix ups than treating them as evenly weighted as any other angle.

Hello there. I occasionally practice sword techniques and I'm more comfortable with one-handed sword combat at the moment. Thanks for making this tutorial quick and simple.

How would you feel about adding lunging attacks into your choreography? Seeing as this whole stance was based on actual European fencing techniques, I think they would fit in fairly well. Plus with force powers and clever video editing, some really cool exchanges could be set up with lunges.
