Extracting files from LG VX9100 CDMA phone

Here's a video tutorial on how to download the games and application files from your LG VX9100 CDMA phone (and similar LG phones, i.e. VX5600, VX9200, VN530), on a Windows 10 x64 machine, and save them for preservation purposes.

PRE-REQUISITES

1) You will need drivers for your phone and a tool named revskills.

2) You will need to have your phone connected to PC via a direct USB-A to micro-USB cable and detected by the Windows Device Manager as relevant LG devices. If it does not, install the drivers. If it detects as a generic USB Serial port install drivers as well.

Earlier LG phones (e.g. the VX8600, VX9900) require a propietary LG connector cable. These can be found on ebay, also same type of cable was used for many GSM phones manufactured by LG.

3) Please install the tool, use the attached key provided by its author.
Please note that the tool has been discontinued and unsupported by its author years ago.

NOTES:

Pre-requisite steps are not shown in the video as these should be self-explanatory.

Please review the video before you do anything, and use only the functions which are shown, the tool can potentially erase all data if you use something like Write Memory or similar functions.

A section of the video shows most common issue when BREW content cannot be dumped (0:31-0:40). Next it is shown how to overcome this issue.

Unless you are making the backup for yourself, please remove any sensitive data which you don't want to share. The video explains the most common places where personal files are stored and shows how to remove most user-identifiable data from the backup.

Reading the files from EFS will take some time! Please be patient until the tool shows that the files were successfully read. Don't do anything on the PC during this time, and, obviously, don't let the PC hibernate, sleep etc. Also please do not touch the phone or cables during the backup.
