Perfect timing - I'm currently planning out a belt grinder build, and was looking at VFDs!

You're better than me Dudley. I'd be too scared to open the unit incase I let the magic blue smoke out of the box LOL 🤣. Thanks for showing us. Cheers, Aaron.

Good review Robert. I’m going to give that one a try on recently purchased used cutter grinder. I’ve got a Fuji 15hp(derated to 7.5 for single phase input). I’m breaking all the vfd rules with it. Using it as 3phase power supply to 7.5 hp lathe and 10” pedestal grinder( both across the line start) and also feeding a second 5 hp vfd (3p in, 3p out) for my mill. Been working fine for 4 years in the home shop environment. Was going to add cutter grinder to 3 phase bus but will give the banggood unit a try.

Thanks for this review. I just found the vfd on banggood, at that price I thought I could play with it.

Nice, really nice review. I wish I had seen this a week ago. Coincidentally I already have a VFD in shipping.

I've had 2 of these vfds. The first one lasted almost 2 years in a dirty dusty environment. The other one is still going but I have a filter attached to the top and bottom. I have it hooked to a restored 14 inch band saw with a 1.5hp 3 phase motor. I use it to cut metal so I'm usually around 10hz for steel, 20hz for plastics and aluminum. For the price you can't beat it.

Great video but I didn't understand a word you said !
Last time I play with electronics was 60 years ago, I built a crystal set to listen to the Test cricket in England you could but the headset in Mums ceramic pudden bowl for better audio !
The Ariel was a long my father's work shop over a 100 feet . I can change a 12 volt fuse wire .
Please go back to machining.
Hope you are safe from the pandemic.

L have the same drive and impretty sure you need to install a braking resistor.Mine is happily running a 2 hp horrizontal mill.

Nice review one thing I'm not getting say if you wanna run this on a mill or a lathe how would you get an rpm reading is there something you add that converts hrtz to rpm or would you instal some kind of electric tach ???

Hello Robert,
Good review... it would be great if you could do a follow up review once you've used it for a while...
Take care.

Would that still work for 120v. line in and 120v. output to 120v motor on a Jet 920 lathe?

you showed a 220v plug, but the VFD is a Euro model with no L2. How did you wire it for US 220v?

Hi.
You rewired your motor to 240V.
Was that because the inverter will not run 440V ?
I would need 3 phase 440

That microcontroller is far from capable running code needed for vector drive. Sensorless vector driving is even more demanding. So mentioning vector for this vfd is completly misleading. It is ok for the price but far from delivering constant torque over different speeds.

Don't self-denigrate yourself. Throw up some relevant images or something while you're doing your introduction.
