Dr. Ralph Stanley would be proud of this rendition. You did him proud.

My 95 year old father passed last month, a veteran of 2 wars and a wonderful father, husband and all around human being, knew this time was coming but still hard, although I believe he’s in a better place, his body was failing but his spirit remained strong, god bless dad.

Over the past few years, I’ve had a few brushes with death. I was knocked off a ladder and broke my pelvis in two. While rehabbing from that I was hit by a car while riding my bike. I truly have been spared over for another year

Was I the only one holding my breath through the whole song? Wow. This is beautiful.

I’m old. Deaths embrace begins to look more and more like a welcoming hug. But I hope this is what I hear at that time.

Ralph Stanley would be proud, I've been a Ralph Stanley fan my whole life. No one ever does him justice, but this did. Man, amazing job, you slapped the mustard out of that song. Great great job.

My ancestors come from the Clinch river, and this song always seems to have some special power to me. The bones of my past still lay in those hills. We will all meet again on God's golden shore.
