Carson Elliott shows us how to use a Talk Box!

My guitar courses are available within the Guitareo membership :)
Also, my beginner course, GuitarQuest, is still available on its own too

The channel is supported in part by Sweetwater’s affiliate program. Thanks for that!

5 minutes of "how this work" followed for 15 minutes of "let's make weird noises" is a flawless format for this instrument

I love when Rob's first inclination is to just take whatever he's using and turn it into the most metal sounding thing in the world.

TWRP is one of my favorite bands and their lead singer, Doctor Sung, uses a Talkbox in almost every song. It gives them a super distinct sound that I absolutley cherish.

I'm kind of surprised Rob is only *now* exploring the talk box.

15:57 the groove they have here with Rob’s soloing and Carson playing the bass notes, the way they harmonize together is genuinely amazing I wanna hear a full album with these guys

I know the talk box has been around a long long time, but as far as popularizing it I would credit Peter Frampton from the mid 70's with his amazing live album "Frampton Comes Alive". He knew how to work it well, combine that with his masterful guitar playing and it was surely a recipe for greatness. The quintessential cut from the album has to be "Do You Feel Like We Do", if you have not heard it before you must go find it.

I got goosebumps during that love song he wrote, Rob’s guitar complimented it so well

Roger Troutman was an absolute legend of the talk box with both keyboard and guitar. He was amazing in Zapp and as a solo artist. Taken way to soon in heart-breaking fashion, but I will never stop shouting the praises of Roger to anyone interested in Talk box.

The contrasting timbre between the acoustic and the talkbox was so COOL

The artist that really brought the Talkbox to life is Roger Troutman from the funk group Zapp or commonly known as Zapp&Roger. He is the first ever artist to actually make the Talkbox effect sound human like. You can hear it on his songs like "More Bounce To The Ounce" and "I Can Make You Dance" he was also featured in the Hiphop classic "California Love" produced by 2pac and Dr Dre. Roger Troutman did the introduction and outroduction to the song on his Talkbox. RIP 🙏 Roger 1951-1999

I'm just surprised by how many musicians don't know about talkbox.

A couple years ago I showed my music production teacher and it blew his mind. He immediately put in an order for it to use in class.
