Oh the dismay on gem's face and the mild regret on pearl's 😭😭 shinyduo angst my beloved, definitely my favorite dynamic these past two seasons!! Pearl's always great for the angst lol

I like to imagine their dynamic as like the fox and the hound, or in this case, a wolf and a deer. They started off as friends at some point, and then the wilderness really got to them. I feel like everyone has shown some amount of primal instincts in Wild Life, like genuinely just going savage and barbaric like animals with some of the wild cards that have happened.

This, the growing rivalry between Gem and Pearl in Secret Life, and the recent release of the Wicked movie has started a brainrot in my head of Gem and Pearl's dynamic with the background music being Defying Gravity (specifically the "I Hope You're Happy" section).

I find it insane that this divorce arc started last season of the life series and gem held the grudge, and it stated basically a whole war of everyone trying to take gems life. They literally use it as a trophy and a bragging right, though she basically LET everyone kill her except for today's episode.

Oh, I love the idea of Gem's lives being shown via a tattoo on her arm. That's very creative.

I love the line “you think I can’t handle your life—“ with all the red hands pointing at Pearl, as if to blame her (like in double life) and the immediate cut to gem “have you seen mine?” with the Watchers and her missing eye done in blue, furthering the contrast between the two. They hate her they want her to go away (Pearl) /They hate her they want her back (gem) and the jealousy and pure rage on both of the players faces is awesome. Call me a Watcher, because I’m *gobbling* up the emotions you portray in your incredible art.

So, revisiting this after the Wild Life finale, and that last part: "I've got time" hits really hard after their respective POVs because, well...

They didn't have enough time. They believed they did, they were so close to just, finally being together after all this time. They were so, _so close_ and then it just... didn't happen. Gem dies and Pearl breaks apart, yearning for what they almost had, mourning so strongly because she was just there, and then she wasn't.

I think we forgot on the way to the finale that Shiny duo in the Life Series are, well, mostly doomed to fall. It happened in Secret Life, it happened in Wild Life. They always lose each other, and it always hurts them.

(It's kind of like that quote, even; "The love was there. It didn't change anything at the end, but it's important that the love was still there." Maybe one day, they'll have enough time if they decided to find each other from the very beginning.)

Throwing up on the floor. The way their height is emphasized. The way Pearl is often framed from a lower angle, making her look taller, which is 1. how Gem sees her and 2. making her look older, showing that she has more experience on this series and she knows what happens in it. Gem is framed from a higher/more forward angle, which is 1. how Pearl sees her and 2. making her look younger, showing that she has less experience. They don't see eye to eye, and they can't. Their problems weren't similar at all and they cannot understand each other's point of view, which is the fundamental cause for their fight. Inexperienced Gem believes what Pearl did was *wrong* and experienced Pearl believes what she did was *necessary*. Also the way it's Gem's missing eye that twitches as the end... brb jumping off a cliff
