Lenovo’s new Legion Pro 7i gaming laptop isn’t actually all that “pro”, but there’s a good reason for it!

0:27 Apparently the interior is actually metal, but it didn't feel that way to me.
5:06 I meant to say DDR5-6000, not 5600!

I just ordered this with 4080. I watched a ton of your videos. It's crazy, I feel like every laptop has something missing that the other picks up. But it seems, despite the things that were removed, is that this one is highly regarded. I also used your gaming laptop deals to get it for 2k at BH Photo! Which was far less than other places like best buy, which honestly surprised me. Thanks for all the content. My biggest focus is getting a laptop that can run games at medium settings and with quiet fans. I play downstairs on the couch while my partner watches tv, so having a quiet laptop that can still game is hugely, hugely, HUGELY important to me. Here's to hoping to sounds good.

Your reviews are so in-depth. I didn’t know the Lenovo software was so feature rich, it’s actually a huge selling point that would get little mention elsewhere.

Please be aware, the mini LED option mentioned in the review does not seem to exist. You can only get this laptop with an IPS panel, which is major bummer.

I'm in the market for a new gaming laptop, and i gotta say this is the MOST FRUSTRATING thing ever! 😖 Every laptop I've seen is sacrificing one thing or another 😭

Very happy with mine, got this few days ago and it's been so good, massive upgrade from the Asus TUF FX505 with GTX 1060 6gb lol and only paid around 1600€ after some tax sales.

The design looks much less premium and sleek compared to last year, but the price is now actually very compelling compared to other brands. I suppose Lenovo focuses on making it the fastest bang for buck, that 80W CPU & 175W GPU under full load is very impressive for a 16" form factor

Remember to always enable RGB as Jarrod's super secret tip.
RGB gives fps boost

They obviously took a step backwards in terms of build quality and material usage, but otherwise it looks like an excellent laptop. Too bad the prices are still ridiculously high this year. I envy those who can afford these machines.

Thanks testing the HDMI for true 2.1 support! I hope this can be done in all future reviews as I often hook up to my LG C2 and my L7 2021 only does 8bit since it has pseudo hdmi 2.1.

I just bought one of these and its fantastic. Its a 4090 model for 2799 at Microcenter (it had a 500 discount). Any other 4090 laptop from MSI or Asus was $700 more. The only thing I was worried about was the display being only IPS rather than mini led, but its the best IPS display I've ever seen. No backlight bleed, no IPS glow, 240 htrz, near 500 nits, and it looks spectacular. Color gambit may be a bit low so for photo editing maybe not so good, but for gaming its just fine. I'm happy to trade the features Lenovo removed to have such a well priced laptop.

With your guidance, I decided to buy this laptop. Moreover, I bought it from the mentioned website, and it was at a very affordable price. I see this model as a model whose design has been reduced in order to have high hardware. I don't regret to buy at all. Thanks for your effort...

The model you tested is available in the US from MicroCenter for $2649 on sale, which is a fair price considering the 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage. This laptop should have been called the Legion 5 Pro+ or something similar, with the 7 moniker reserved for the flagship line. Though as has been rumored, this leaves room for a Legion 9, which would have all the content that was cut here. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm glad i got the last year 7i and its not that far behind. All i need now is a hack to get frame generation to work on 30 series laptops

Glad to hear there was no thermal throttling in stress tests

I think this is one of the better priced 2023 laptops with the high end 4000 series GPUs. FYI I've been able to get up to 30K in Cinebench on the Blade 18 with CPU overclocking and boost mode turned on (though this was not in a sustained test).

I’ve watched countless videos and still no closer to choosing a laptop but edging towards the strix g16

I purchased this about two weeks ago and am in love! The downsides you presented don’t bother me at all. I don’t use the touch pad, and I’m near 50…so, I don’t need 14000 leds to prove my gaming prowess. Thanks for the great review.

Honestly I bought this one with the 4090 (for 16 vram) as my first gaming laptop, and first introduction to pc gaming. I am used to console quality, so all the downgrades aren’t much of a impact for me.

The only thing I think I would want, from the last year’s model, are the vents they removed. It all sounds nitpicky to me, or maybe I’m part of the problem with my purchase, but again i am coming from consoles. anything is an upgrade for me. Lol

I appreciate your reviews and your opinions are spot on. I appreciate honesty, especially with such expensive decisions to make.
