I know I'm like 2 years late, but I highly recommend Menu 17. It's by far the best one I've tasted!

Awsome intro! Love it! My main defence against the digestive problems from them is water. LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER. And we have fruit trees, I have made miles of what the wife calls "roofing tar". Blend up 3 different kinds of plumbs, two different kinds of apples, apricots, pears and figs. Add sugar, or honey or both. Cinnamon if you want. Dehydrate until it is BARELY flexible. Roll up in the cellophane you made it on and vacume pack. Throw it in the survival totes. I have eaten one I lost that was 5 years old, and although it had gone a little gummy, it was still 9 of 10 on the fruit lovers scale, and it always does the job, which is to make you go. And it WILL make you go. Eat one with your mre. My very favorite mre from Desert storm was the "franks with bean component" that always cracked me up, bean component, lol! Pack of vienna sausage with a pouch of pork and beans. And the chicken a la king was real good. Cheese spread and the crackers you could use for a floor tile. Baby tobasco bottles. Loved the freeze dried fruit. Ate it like a candy bar. You brought back some funny and good memories today brother. Thank you. And after the first one, my tent mates wouldnt let me eat the black bean burrito. They didnt like sleeping with a W M D, but I got around that. I had a saudi gaurd friend that traded me his home made hummus for

I’ve been storing food for a few years now. However, I recently picked up a few cases of MREs (1 case a, 1 case b) to supplement. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten them, so thanks for this vidja (even if I’m 4 years late)

I like the beef stew, chilli and macaroni, and chilli and beans. I also like the multi grain bread that comes in them

So one thing about water is that most water heaters have a considerable amount of fresh clean water inside, you just have to make sure you flush and drain it occasionally or the water inside gets a little minerally and gross.

the M.R.E.'s I remember came with little coffee, sugar & creamer packs, to also help with the M.R.E.B.M.I., lol, as well, sometimes a tiny tabasco sauce bottle. Those were Army issue early to mid 90's.

I take these everywhere. When I travel in case my car breaks down I have a broken down mre and a camel back with extra bottled water, hiking- camping. These are life saves

Thanks for mentioning the McRibb, I had forgotten about them, they were good. There was also the Chicken Wrap which I liked, wonder if the MREs have anything like that - the fajit maybe? Too bad those 2 were discontinued, they were quite good.

Just seeing this. We were still eating C-rations when I joined the military in 1980. I have eaten MRE's that I brought home from the late eighties. They were at least 25 years oldwhen i eat them. I had some I brought home that were in the dark brown plasic coverings. Those were really old. They have changed a lot since back in the day with a lot more menus. I actually liked the c-ractions better, but things are always changing in the military.

Menu 24 is my Personal favorite MRE. I would always trade my normal cheese spread for the bacon cheese spread and also try to get an apple cinnamon 1st strike energy bar that would go along with the spiced apples. I also try to get ground red pepper for the main meal to add a kick. I really enjoy the pound cake it always come with. It’s a plus when the accessory pack has cinnamon gum.

MENU 10!!! Chili & Macaroni & the Menu 18 Beef Ravioli are the best. No question, don't argue with me about it, they are the best ones!! Ok Ok, that just my opinion... Good info, I didn't know about the Case A vs Case B and all other good info you shared.

But I did put together bartering kits with some MREs in them. Like vegetarian lasagna and other vegetarian ones lol.

Kinda funny that at my local army store the least bought menu is the tuna chunk one lol
