A look at WoW Professions on the Shadowlands Alpha! Professions are getting a bit of a revamp in Shadowlands- the underlying systems of crafting are the same but new systems like Optional Reagents on crafting gear are adding a lot of new options. On top of that, many old-school item categories such as Weapon Oils, Armor Kits and Sharpening Stones are making a comeback to WoW Professions with the Shadowlands Professions updates.

Codex items are available in current WoW, and have been for two or three expansions now. They are AoE talent/essence tomes you put on the ground. Very useful, as you say, if a bunch of people need to adjust talents for different fights.

My prediction:
Before SL: Woah, nice, I love those consummables!
Two month in: Raiding require to much consummable, wtf blizzard, this is so trash

I love how you put the Stormwinds profession trainer on the background on these!

I have a feeling I'm going to be just crafting all the bonus stuff, or timed craftable (pots, enchants, food, sharp stones and kits.) items and have myself a little shop inside of the maw and be that one guy whos selling stuff instead of an NPC.

The amount of speed enchants and procs makes my Warlock happy.

Oh man, I am gonna be screaming, "DEATH FROM ABOVE!" constantly once we get flying in SL with those Engineering boots.

9:41 Cataclysm, also the last time that sharpening stones/weightstone were a thing. They were a pain in the butt to use back then, as they were consumables. People QQ'd, so they were removed in MoP. Looks like they fixed the actual problem though, which was that for many classes switching spec also meant switching weapon type. Then you had to remember to apply your sharpening stone/weightstone as well. Now it seems like it's a permanent increase, which is quite nice.

Love the idea of increasing crafted armor ilvls throughout the patches to make them catch up gear. Wouldn't it be lovely to use our crafting professions after levelling them 😍

Oh I like this very much. Many many layers of customization and serious mitigation of RNG.

We are in danger of being totally overwhelmed by shadowlands.

I hope they add more class/racial glyph options, also would love a woodcutting/fletching profession.

Why do i feel like blizz is just looking at classic and going, "huh so this is actually a good game, maybe even better than our current game, lets take stuff from this and move it to the new game".

Not complaining, ive been wanting blizz to refresh wow and add back the cool old stuff for years.
Its just ironic.

I think one of the big problems with catching up being crafted is people just coming in and not having the gold to meet the market prices, which will fluctuate drastically based on server size.

I wish they'd make weapon oils, stones etc. more powerful, but limit them to the open world. This would reduce the strain on top end raiders to carry 3 bags worth of consumables to every raid, while making the general public more involved in professions.
