The equations are simple, but still with that equations we cant determine the perfect one-try cut of those both of apples without measuring its volume.
The explanation didn't explain that, only focused on the equations. No matter we cut the apple, and by the sake of that equations, how we know precisely done the slice perfectly?

The ones with the lower part of the apple have less edible area because of the cores.

You can never know where to cut the each apple. Of course cut line is 1/3 which equation suggest from the beginning and that you didn't told but from apple's POV its impossible to cut 1/3 bcoz its has irregular shape.

thats what i was thinking, just needed the algebra, thanks. A friend was telling me it was impossible (frankly in a real world situation its true) but i knew it was lol thanks for giving me the "proff"

So now do it by hand to make three equal portions. I thought you were gonna show a way to make it without measuring ⅔ of each apple

Put the apple on top of another and Cut in exactly 66.650% of the apple or 33.350% of the apple

66.650+33.350= 100

100- 33.350 = 66.650

So Girl can have 33.350% from those 2 apples.

The two guys can have The 66.650% of each apple

So thats One cut

It's obviously not a math problem. It's a problem to make you think. The clue is one stroke of the knife. The trick is to apply it to the people not the apples. There's no moral complication because it is just a riddle.
