How Many Countries Are in the World?

One of the most debated questions in the travel world is "HOW MANY COUNTRIES ARE THERE?"

And truth be told, you will get a different answer depending on who you ask... There is no right or wrong answer; everyone is entitled to their own opinion about what they think qualifies as a 'country.'

The topic of 'how many countries are there' is a very complicated and touchy subject (especially when people from almost every country will see this video), but I have done my best to reason why I side with the U.N.'s list of 193 countries.

It's pretty surreal to think that my goal of visiting every country is now within reach. I have just 54 left! And after this year (if all goes as planned) I will have 37 left.

Hello Drew, I just recently found your channel, and i love it! I am curious if you will also visit Afghanistan? I was there for 8 months and it changed my worldview. Some of the most hospitable people I have met. I made friends there that i stay in contact with to this day! I do recommend the northern part of the country, due to safety reasons. We have One Earth Just Divided by Boundaries

Personally I would include the 193 UN states, plus 2 observers (Vatican and Palestine), plus states with a sizeable chunk (at least double digits) of the world recognising it (Kosovo, SADR, Taiwan), plus the 2 freely associated states (Cook Islands and Niue), who are basically just as much countries as Palau or the Marshall Islands.

Seems Drew included Kosovo, Taiwan, Palestine and Vatican later on.
