Finance is critical to achieving the SDGs. In fact half of the partner governments who prepared a country brief for the 2019 Sector Ministers' Meeting identified financing as the major challenge their water, sanitation, and hygiene sector faces. Nearly the same number of partner governments said that inadequate financing is a major constraint in eliminating inequalities.
This webinar focused on how finance can be used effectively to reduce inequalities in access to water, sanitation and hygiene. The discussion helped partners determine where inequalities exist and the various ways through which households, communities and people are excluded. Several innovative financing approaches, including budgeting, as well as examples from partners who have implemented programs focused on sanitation, the rural and urban poor, were presented.

The speakers during this webinar were:
Government of Ethiopia- Abiy Girma, National Coordinator ONE WASH National Program
Government of Malawi- Emma Mbalame, Director of Water Supply and Sanitation
Zambia National Water Supply and Sanitation Council- Chola Kasoma Mbilima, Senior Inspector, Financial and Commercial Management

IRC- Catarina Fonseca, Head Innovation and International Department

Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI)- Neil Cole, Executive Secretary
