Just taken delivery of my 2024 version with the increased battery range and 22kW charge capability. I really like it apart from the lack of switchgear and absolute reliance on the idrive 8.5 system to set temperature etc. Compared to my 2019 520d I'd say ergonomically it is inferior because there is nothing better than having physical controls over faffing about with menu's and touchscreens. I like to turn a control to set temperature and switch on heated seats as well as control both front panel temperatures from one control rather than faff about setting them individuall and then faffing about with the screen to control heated seats. The quality of the physical buttons is inferior to the 5-series; for example the whole panel moves when I switch on the rear windscreen demister. The lack of a proper physical gearshift is pretty disappointing IMO.

However I'm getting better fuel economy from the 330e (46mpg compared to 40.5) and more power and better delivery than the 5-series. On the whole I like it, but the switchgear to me is a significant negative. I also REALLY do not like the lane assist that you cannot disable completely and the bongs when you are a few miles over the speed limit - one would be enough rather than three (I know this is EU law) but it doesn't seem to know when speed limits change so bongs away disrupting my driving. We have enough pot-holes and idiots on the roads in the UK to deal with chimes and dings that are totally irrelevant. Especially when I'm playing Ode to Joy at high volume ;)

i'm not sure whether to go for a 330e or a 330i. i only drive short distances and can charge with a pv at home. but as i want to keep the car for 5-6 years, i'm afraid that i won't be able to sell a PHEV with such an old battery properly. In addition, the 330e is supposed to feel very heavy because of the additional components. rising fuel costs and pollution are arguments against the 330i. difficult.

How come your electric range is much higher than the advertised? I have a 23' 330e and I get almost 32km on electric alone.
