this does seem like quite the versatile lens. i did love the grade at the end. it reminded me of how i often grade when using a helios 44-2. the deep greens and reds that it produces just begs you to play with the look and it would seem you guys had the same idea :)

Very interesting review !
I do ask myself if I want to go with 2 primes like Zeiss supreme prime let’s say 50 and 85 mm, or one Fujinon Premista. It’s a project where I’ll be almost a year on the road so renting is not an option and I’d like to be flexible .
I’d love to hear some expert opinion on the matter. On the one hand. The Zeiss are primes and much lighter when mounted, but it’s easy when I have one lens to take care of

Would have been so cool to have seen some 24/25 FPS footage. Really get a feel for what the lenses can do. I politely still never understand YTubers’ ongoing obsession with slomo footage.

I think FF isn’t really practical for most applications and the one stop gain in shallow DoF is negligible. I have to say that this is a really nice focal range. I’m still waiting for a 19-65mm T2.8 zoom for S35.

I'm confused. According to all specs the lens is parfocal, you say its "incredibly parfocal" followed shortly by saying there's hardly and shift through the focal ranges. Either it is or it isn't parfocal. Or you didn't have the backfocus of the lens correct / the focal flange depth correctly set.
