For those who don't know, the larger Koi like the first one netted usually go out to larger ponds in the summer. There they enjoy swimming all summer long and then are gently rounded up in those mostly drained ponds later in the late summer / fall again and put back inside the fish houses. It's too cold during the winter for them to survive outside. So they spend part of the year outside in nice ponds. They (the fish owners) treat their fish like part pets but also as part livestock to breed and sell. I don't know if they eat any of them as they're too valuable as decorative pond fish for Koi Ponds. This comment is for anyone who thinks all of the Koi are left in the smaller fish house tanks their whole lives

Before we say overstocked, they may have really good filtration systems, so that water could be pretty clean, now, I do slightly agree, that there are a good number of fish in there, but they seem to be healthy.
