WOW! I took Advanced Calculus in community college 61 years ago and just downloaded the book to see how much I've forgotten. Later in college I also took courses like "Introduction to Fourier Optics" using the book by Goodman to practice some of my calculus skills. Disclaimer: I am not, nor have I ever been, a mathematician, although I did make it through "Real Analysis" with a barely passing C grade.

My calc sequence was layed out just like this. Over 3 semesters from 1 to multivaribles. Followed by difeq with liner algerbra, then linear algebra by itself.

How long do you recommend someone to try to solve math problems on their own first, before looking up the solution and trying to understand how it's derived

It has a Natural Log table, but no trig tables...maybe I just missed them. Nice book, though!
