Loren Allred vs. Nicole Nelson

The Voice - USA. Season 3 - Knock-Outs. Loren sings "You Know I'm No Good" by Amy Winehouse. Nicole sings "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys.

This takes me back. This was the first major upset I ever saw on The Voice.


Just for context, Nicole was painted as one of the heavy favorites that season with her receiving 4 chairs turned and her full Battle shown, while Loren had both her audition and Battle Round montaged. This was so set up for Nicole to just take her out and move onto the Live shows. Basically, no one really knew anything about Loren. So Loren gets up here and slays and Adam moves her forward... the audience was confused and shocked. Not surprisingly, Loren went out in the next round (when public voting was opened). Just one of the many reasons why I hate the producers of this show; they play favorites and its not even subtle. I'm glad Loren seeing some success these days.

Adam must’ve been sick to his stomach. Loren was basically a sacrificial lamb to the heavy favorite Nicole, and then Loren sings an Amy Winehouse song better than Amy sang it. I think Nicole’s version was better than the original too. To this day the strongest battle I’d ever seen.

Loren is truly impressive! And Loren’s voice beautiful, but Nicole can tell a story! They are truly remarkable individuals.

Problem is Adam underestimated Loren here and put her up against Nicole as an easy loss, but then she slayed this performance. Could've had them both going into live shows :\
