sprouting seeds for chickens

Sprouting barley and pea seeds for a nutritious treat for my chickens. Soak about 7 cups of seeds in water over night, drain into bucket with small holes, rinse twice a day until they sprout, store in a place above freezing.

All chickens need to be fed like this for their diet. I use almost the same method. Of course, I also free range mine too. I plant alfalfa, crimson clover, white clover, rye, and oats for them to eat and scratch through. I also feed them black soldier fly larvae as a snack everyday. They are high in protein and calcium, and are especially good for them when they are molting. My chickens have hard eggshells and big, dark, orange yolks. I have a 287 acre farm here in South Alabama. I raise buff orpingtons, blue laced red wyandottes, ameraucanas, light brahmas, and my favorites are raising blue andalusians. I'm going to be adding buttercups and jersey giants to my two flocks next year. I also raise red angus and black angus cows.
