How it DOESN'T fall down! Putting up a IKEA LACK small floating shelf

How do you put up an IKEA Lack small floating shelf? I try new things to make my family happy, and today I'm fitting this small corner shelving from Ikea that's been sat on our floor for about 2 years. I've fit Lack shelves before but this one is the hardest because you have to screw it to the wall pretty precisely for it to work.

I love how real this video is! Thank you for not editing the challenges that come with installing this shelves. The amount of screw to be left out is definitely the most complicated part of these shelves. Thank you for making this video!

Came for the shelving installation tips, but commenting because same bed but separate duvets is the way to go. Never have to worry about losing the covers in the middle of the night!

Great video - super helpful as I just bought 4 of them buggers. Hope you returned the screwdriver

haha funny video. Good to see another video.
Small tip here though (or at least what I do) - I to use red (6mm) wall plug for basically everything. Instead of using a 6mm drill bit use a 5.5mm drill bit and tap the plug in. You can still put the plug and screw in but it makes the fit seriously tight meaning a stronger fit. It is a old tip my step dad told me from his days as a sparky and works brilliantly.

Hey, I’ve just subscribed! I’ve just bought this and need to put up 8 in the next few days, what screws did you use? (From a newbie to DIY).

Just doing this one and super helpful that you tell us the measurements so I don't have to trust my dodgy eyes thank you....Although my large shelf I've put upside down! And I can't get the screws out ha ha. Can you please buy and install a pax wardrobe next even if you don't need one thank you

I bought 2 of these a year ago to place the router and home phone, but didn't fix them. After watching your video I think I can do it. The only difference is that my walls are solid and the old plaster is of crumbly type.
Thanks for the video 👍

This was a perfect video for me thanks, I am just about to embark on installing 2 small lack floating shelves onto a stud wall in my tween-age daughter's bedroom, my only concern is how well they will hold up on plasterboard alone, as of course, screwing into the stud would not position the shelf in the most 'most perfect' aesthetic position - to get the look, its form over function every time, I am more function over form - I am hoping I can catch at least one stud and will use your rawl plug approach for the other. Here goes!

😀 well it’s up, but you made me laugh! Glad to know that my DIY skills are matched elsewhere😂. You did make it hard for yourself though! Here’s an old hack which is also good for hanging pictures. Get some masking tape (or pumbers tape) and stretch it across the back of the shelf to cover the two screw holes. Mark the tape where the screw points are. Transfer the tape to the wall, check the level and height. Stick the tape to the wall. Drill through the tape where the marks are, Bob’s your uncle, you have positioned your screws perfectly. No room for error! (Other than pipes/cables buried in the wall!). But enjoyed the video and your approach to home improvement! Thanks

Hi! I’ve got a dry wall, what screws and wall anchors do you think I should get?

lol! Thank you for posting this! My adventure installing three of these svelte Swedish nightmares next to eachother failed. Did I miss something? Probably. Will I try until I completely ruin my entire wall? Also probably.
