Apparently there are tens of millions of French who are on board with violence as a means of political change.

My personal philosophy is at odds with these people.

They got 50 more seats than 2 years ago, that is remarkable. Just 2 more years, she would probably be the president of France.

The truth is that French are mad about Muslims not respecting French way of leaving hence support for far right and it will only get bigger

The far right won in terms of coming first by a long way in votes - 37%. The two parties on 25% each came 1st and 2nd in seats. It was a stitch-up, carving the country up between two completely opposite political camps.

France goes through this process every election cycle: apathetic, dissatisfied voters stay home, the far right win votes in first round, france panics and the apathetic come back out to vote against racism.
Twenty years living in france. It's the same old every time and is the reason they don't get the governance they want - because they always end up having to vote against racism in the last round instead of having - and deciding upon - good choices.
Yes, Macron can wait a while - it's the summer holidays. Nothing interrupts the holidays. Or they sneak stuff in while everyone is looking in the other direction.

If French voters wanted the change, they would vote for Marie LePen.
Like this, they will have version of the same as what was up to now, with different packaging.
Until next elections.

The French electoral system uses the tried and tested divide and conquer strategy to divide and weaken French voters as and when required by it's ruling/ political class designers to retain their power and control. Hopefully the French people eventually achieve the necessary cohesion to break free of this contrived ruling/political class entrapment.

Despite the hole the Democrats have gotten themselves in over here, I am watching from the U.S., and I greatly appreciate this clarifying broadcast on what Sunday's results really mean and the complex road ahead.

Don't underestimate Le Pen. She's still mightier than Le Sword!

The voters made a decision and the far right lost. Change is what the majority wanted and they said it in votes. Democracy in action.

Must be horrible to vote against somebody you don’t want instead of somebody you do. It’s like picking a turd over a jobbie.
It seems an ever decreasing circle until the inevitable happens.

Right vs centre and left it's an ugly match.

The right clearly won every department, but Paris alone nullified the people's vote, how is that democracy when one province can decide for the entire country?
