I really think UK humour just doesn't transfer over because Hus's bars are supposed to be immature and silly.

If j cole, j rock, and j hope had been on this album, you would have given it a 10

This shows a significant culture difference between the UK and US

This album is solid all the way through. If you haven’t heard this, don’t listen to melon. Also, all the “cringe bars” mentioned here were clearly jokes, not sure how fantano didn’t pick that up

J Hus isn’t a lyrical rapper but he knows how to make a good song you can jam to and his talent is blending multiple genres into one. Not many can rap, sing, do different accents all on the same track. I feel that is lost on fantano.

It’s mad how uk listeners can adapt themselves into the us scene but it doesn’t happen vice versa

my respect for fantano is now firmly in the gutter

Fantano needs a “vibes meter”, this album is just that, vibes, doesn’t always need a deep introspective look in

I really respect j hus for his authentic worldbuilding, & cocky lyricism thats both naive and self-assured. its just funny. and like others have said, there's a certain atmosphere or vibe going on. I also like how he platforms African culture in his own special way. I dont think he always makes hits but I appreciate him as an artist

Man I’ve had it with this guy dismissing albums that vibe front to back.

This album fully delivers, don’t sleep on it

Why do people from the UK even watch or care about his reviews? He hasn’t lived the culture, nor does he know anything about UK slang, terminology or street culture so forget Africa (Gambia and Nigeria) as a whole. He literally gave Dave’s psychodrama a 5 and his newest album a light 6.

no mention of Militerian? One of the best tracks on the album

How does Anthony know what 13 year olds talking about sex on discord sound like 🤔

It is really a big pleasure to see Fantano review one of the best Reformists from the 15th century Jan Hus.

Yeah I'm never bothered enough by a Fantano review to leave a comment, but this one aint it.

The production and mixing are 10/10 on the ENTIRE project, which is rare enough in and of itself, and he brings the afro swing/fusion flavor that he pretty much originated in the UK, along with drill and R&B. He has songs where he's the only person on them but it sounds like several. Versatility is incredible. Yes there's corny bars here and there, but give this project a listen, you wont be disappointed.

I would compare J Hus to a Young Thug in America. The different voices, cadences, flows and sometimes weird, silly lyrics. But it's where they come from, and the vibe they bring with their music that often makes it stand out. They are strong characters and have presence.

Hus is just a UK institution at this point, his style is very tongue in cheek but the entire vibe is grounded in UK mannerisms and language. He just drops the soundtrack for summer we put on repeat for years until he drops something new.

It isnt really something for music nerds (especially from america) to break down and pick apart. move on.
