In my day (2015) we used to talk about being stuffed into spring loaded suits that lock and literally squish someone's internal organs. Murdered children, more murdered children, invading a neighbor's house, and being trapped in a forest having to find 8 pages while being chased by an 8ft tall man.

Horror games are meant to be scary, and gore content like that shouldn't even be exposed to kids anyway. Just bc it's animated doesn't mean its for kids

Here’s all that parents need to know: Huggy Wuggy is a monster from a horror game. He doesn’t whisper creepy songs, all he does IN THE GAME is chase you and try to bite your head off. In case the game’s AGE RATING didn’t tip you off or you just weren’t paying attention, don’t let little children play it, it’s not appropriate for them. And monitor your kid’s YouTube activity or just don’t let them use YouTube. You can’t expect the entire internet and all video games to magically become appropriate enough to keep your kid busy. That’s just not how the world works.

Edit: tbf the game’s devs have been marketing their merch for children, so some of this is their own fault.

My son plays this game. He's not traumatized. He likes scary things. I watch him play it sometimes, never heard anything like this. I do heavily monitor what my kid watches and plays. I'll tell you what this is causing though. Since this whole story came out a few weeks ago, some assholes on youtube have started making adult animations related to the character and children will inevitably see those if they search huggy wuggy or watch gaming videos related to it. And you can tell that all of the animations being put out are all being made IN RESPONSE to this story getting so much attention because they're all cheaply and quickly made and have been uploaded anywhere from 6 hours ago to 5-6 days ago when the whole thing started. Up until this whole social media campaign i never once saw an inappropriate video related to this character. Now when I search the character it's the top 3 results, all uploaded today and yesterday. The social media fear mongering of the character is actually making the matter worse. Like a self fulfilling prophecy.

as an kid that watch playthroughs of the game, this is genuinely braindead, its honestly the parents faults they don't supervise the children watching the content, the fact they casually change the way the jumpscares are, are pretty insulting, plus they casually stole footage from fanmade animations and songs

Parents: Never trust adults ESPECIALLY on the news when it comes to videogames, these people sensationalize everything especially when it comes to your emotions and the impact it might cause on your children, it's a sensitive topic which is there just to rally people up, these people know jack shit about what they are talking about.
